Shaykh Ahmed Muhammad Saad - was born into a family of scholars in northern Egypt. He completed memorisation of the Qu'ran at the age of ten, led his first congregational prayer at thirteen and at fifteen he delivered his first Friday sermon in a mosque. By this time he had already memorised several classical Islamic scholarly texts and also many thousands of lines of Arabic poetry. He spent almost 17 years in the Al-Azhar system of schools and graduated from the prestigious Al-Azhar University (arguably the world's most well known and respected Islamic educational institution) with a BA Honours in Islamic Studies in English. Shaykh Saad has spent many years since graduating from Al-Azhar studying at the hands of senior scholars and specialists in the Islamic sciences, the most notable of these being the former Grand Mufti of Egypt, Shaykh Ali Gom'ah.
Shaykh Saad holds many ijazat (licences to teach) in Qur'anic recitation as well as in the books of Hadith (Prophetic traditions), Tafsir (Qur'anic commentary), and in the Fiqh (jurisprudence) of the Shafi'ie school (one of the four major Sunni schools of religious law). A highly sought after speaker committed to imparting traditional Islamic knowledge, he has toured the world as an Imam, speaker and lecturer; visiting Canada, USA, Germany, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, England, Scotland and Wales. He settled in the UK in 2005 and became the Imam of North London Central Mosque (formerly known as Finsbury Park Mosque) when he was brought in to repair the damage done to the mosque's reputation when it gained notoriety after falling under the influence of extremist preacher Abu Hamza Al-Masri who was arrested in 2004 and extradited to the USA in October 2012.
