The GOT (Getting on Together) Programme
Extracts from two independent HMI inspection reports, autumn term 2011, on the Bishop of Llandaff Church-in-Wales High School, Cardiff
"The school promotes pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development very well. Pupils gain a good understanding of diversity and community living through a whole-school approach that encourages social development. Pupils develop appropriate moral values such as respect, honesty and fairness. Pupils benefit from a very good personal and social education programme, which covers a wide variety of topics. The school works effectively with a wide range of specialist services including Women’s Aid, Oxfam and Trading Standards. Teachers use the ‘Getting On Together’ programme effectively to challenge extremism and promote integration."

2a The school’s effectiveness in shaping the spiritual and moral development of pupils is excellent.
"Careful thought is given to how the Christian ethos shapes what students learn. Departments, in addition to Religious Studies, take advantage of resources that highlight the place of faith in life. The choice of French study texts for sixth form students and the Y7 project,
Every picture tells a story, are examples of this approach. Consequently, students have a mature understanding of moral and ethical issues within subjects they study and independently raise them for discussion. Two one-day conferences provide all sixth form students with their entitlement of religious education. The topics chosen are relevant to managing their life beyond school. For example, the Getting on Together (GOT) programme to tackle religious extremism has been a popular introduction into this programme."
